For the oldest Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light program offers 5th grade Cub Scouts the opportunity to earn a patch that transfers to their Troop Uniform. By earning this recognition, a Scout demonstrates readiness for the next step on the Scouting America Trail. During their last year with the Pack, Arrows of Light Scouts (aka AOLs or "Arrowheads") form a Patrol, choose a Unique Name for their Patrol, Camp with a Scouting America Troop, get a larger say in which adventures their den will do, and in leading their fellow scouts, both skills that will come in handy with they Crossover to a Scouting America Troop in February or March.
Pack 32 AOLs create their own unique neckerchiefs, they also try their hand at making their own neckerchief paracord woggles of a color of their choosing. In addition to the Arrow of Light Adverntures, this year's Handbook contains everything the Scout needs to earn their first Scouting America Troop Rank.
To earn the Arrow of Light badge of rank, Scouts must complete six required adventures and choose two elective adventures. Scouting America offers detailed information about these required and elective adventures, including step-by-step instructions for completing them, on their website.
