Cub Scout Pack 32 has a rich history of community involvement and support that stretches back to 1948. The Boy Scouts of America officially chartered the Pack in 1948 under the Versailles Rotary Club, with F.O. Hoover serving as the first Cubmaster. A framed original Charter, discovered in the Troop 43 Scout House, highlights the Pack's connection to the community and gives a nod to its roots in Versailles, Kentucky.
Over the decades, Pack 32 has been proudly supported by various organizations, including the Versailles United Methodist Church, American Legion, Versailles Baptist Church, Pinckard Baptist Church, and the Rotary Club, among others. Kiwanis Club of Versailles currently holds Pack 32's charter. These partnerships have allowed the Pack to thrive and serve local youth for almost 80 years.
For many years, the Pack called Southside Christian Church its home. In 2015, Pack 32 began meeting at Versailles Baptist Church. In that same year, Pack 232, largely drawing from Southside Elementary, decided to disband, and its members were welcomed into Pack 32. The Pack also expanded its reach in 2015 with the help of Eagle Scout Jeff Danford, who led Pack 32 in recruiting from St. Leo School.
In 2017, Pack 32 proudly joined the Lion pilot program, welcoming kindergarten-aged boys, and fully integrated the Lions into the Cub Scout program the following year.
In 2019, when Boy Scouts of America became Scouts BSA and opened the doors to girls, Pack 32 initially chose not to actively recruit girls, given the logistics and structure at the time. By 2021, after considering the evolving national guidelines, Pack 32 welcomed its first female Cub Scout—a Wolf (2nd grader) sister to a Webelos (5th grader). As of early 2025, Pack 32 is excited to see its first female AOL Scouts (Arrow of Light) cross over into Scouts BSA.
Pack 32, like many organizations, faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, including a drop in membership. In early 2021, enrollment had dropped to 33, the lowest in recent years. Yet, under the leadership of Committee Chair Nicholas Shewmaker and Cubmaster Jeff Danford, the Pack navigated these difficult times. During the pandemic, Pack 32 remained connected by holding outdoor meetings and socially distanced events. Pack 32 did not meet as a whole until June 12, 2021 – a full 15 months since meetings had been initially suspended. On that date, the Pack gathered to celebrate a combined Blue & Gold and Rank Awards at Big Spring Park. In August 2021, the Pack resumed regular in person meetings at Versailles Baptist Church.
Since 2021, Pack 32 has experienced significant growth, with its January 2024 membership reaching 46 Scouts—its highest post-recharter enrollment since 2018. The Pack's dedicated adult leadership continues to grow, with 16 volunteers supporting the dens and various committee roles.
As of January 2025, Pack 32 has moved its regular meetings to the Versailles United Methodist Church (VUMC) due to scheduling challenges at the previous location. VUMC has hosted several Kickoff Kampouts and other events for Pack 32 in the past, as the church continues to support Pack 32's vibrant community of Scouts. The Pack is excited for the future, with plans to continue fostering leadership, adventure, and growth for Scouts of all backgrounds.
